Primary Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to following McDonald's policies and procedures, principal accountabilities and primary duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Planning and Strategy (Enhancing the Brand)
- Strategize marketing plans and calendar for markets using historical sales information in conjunction with Hawaii and National programs
- Gather and present data/statistics on McDonald's exposure and effectiveness on all media and discuss allocations to TV, radio, print.
- Gather data and information on all Guam community events taking place within the year and takes this into consideration when making recommendations for the Marketing Calendar
- Track activity in terms of growth, promotions, menu item costs and advertising as needed.
- Gather, analyze, and provides accurate, relevant, and timely information to President regarding all local, regional and national promotions
- Utilize company web applications to gather sales and product movement data
Marketing Calendar Development
- Create presentation/materials for annual meeting. Attends and actively participates in meeting to ensure unified marketing plan for JCA Organization.
- Identify previous year's stores performance and present creative ideas to increase sales, transaction count and average check for both markets and to strengthen the McDonald's brand position
- Based on Marketing plan, develops budget allocation among various media outlets
- Assists in the development of Marketing Plan for the year
Marketing Coordination W/ Media Outlets
- Develop strong relationship with media contact person to enhance our access to Media exposure
- Purchase media according to approved budget allocation and ensures expenditures are within the budget
- Places various media using McDonald's approved media standards and provides specific instruction to media contact regarding standards
- If needed, arranges for McDonald's media script to be available for use by local media affiliates
- Inform media outlets immediately whenever promotional products are out and verifies that instruction to stop advertisement on radio/tv is followed immediately
- In the event of a natural disaster such as typhoons, takes immediate action to inform media outlets of adjusted store hours
Marketing Execution (In Store)
- Attends Taste & Train for all new product promotions
- Ensures that each store receives signage before the start of each promotion and ensure promotional signage is in its approved location. Takes action if POP isn't received on time
- Communicates approved marketing promotions to all GM's and Area Supervisor in a timely manner, including specific expectations for all new promotions
- At the start of and during the duration of each promotion, closely monitor various broadcast to ensure compliance w/ approved media schedule and that they are timed with the promotion
- Tracks promotional product usage. At end of promotion, communicates to deactivate menu item keys.
- Immediately reports inventory/supplies issues or potential issues to GM's and Area Supervisor. Makes sound recommendation for action plan
Marketing Execution: EOTF
- Schedule digital POP download to indoor and outdoor digital menu boards prior to Go Live Date for all promotions. Visits stores to verify correct download.
- Ensures All menu boards meets McDonald's standards in terms of overall appearance, placement and maintenance
- Ensure removal of all promotional spots on DMB and print signage at the end of each promotion
Local Store Marketing
- Assist General Manager in creating LSM to improve sales, TC and average check.
- Creates LSM plan to build sales
- Communicate all LSM ideas/plans to Supervisor in a timely manner and communicates approval to GM
- If necessary, place and create LSM local media spots
- Order and approve creative for local promotion POP
- Ensure local media coverage on store events including LSM
Public Relations/Events
- Plan & coordinate McDonald's-sponsored PR events and ensures event organization and success. Attends and communicates to all media outlets on behalf of the organization.
- Receive, review and organize all incoming solicitation letters for community events. Presents summary report to President and recommendation for sponsorship
- Publicize employee accomplishments on newspaper
- Coordinates with local charities and businesses for donations/fundraising/tie-in promotions to increase brand awareness
Purchasing
- Consolidate General Managers' orders to fit containers for frozen, chill, grocery, paper and ops supply weekly
- Communicate with Warehouse Supervisor regarding upcoming promotions, container schedules and deadlines, shortages
- Send and coordinate with Distribution Center (DC) all orders weekly and other documents such as required by Customs for clearance.
- Send all necessary documents to trucker for port clearance
- Work with vendor on time extensions if necessary, customs schedule, ships status if delayed, etc.
- Focus on reduction of freight, detention, waste, over stock and understock with General Managers and with LTOs.
- Effectively monitor product movement (especially on LTOs) and reports to GM's, Area Supervisor and President
- In the event of excess or limited products, proactively analyze, prepare and present the best recommendation and action plan to minimize loss or waste of product; or in the event of limited supplies, create action plan to ensure stores do not run out of product
- Willingly provides assistance to markets in the event of product shortage/excess products
